Sherry Christopher is a painter originally from Baltimore, Maryland - now residing in Cambridge, Maryland near the Chesapeake Bay.
Sherry’s work is bold, full of energy and movement with a combination of expressionism and abstraction. She’s mostly a self-taught artist but has studied painting and drawing at the Art League in Alexandria, Virginia.
Sherry’s work mainly derives from inspiration and emotion. Inspiration can come from events, nature, a friend, another artist and in the case of her latest body of work, a fashion designer. The emotion that comes from these places of inspiration you can see and feel in her work.
Her current body of work, The McQueen Series, is inspired by the late fashion designer, Alexander McQueen. “If you study his life from the beginning to the end, you realize his passion, dedication, determination and perseverance. He studied his craft and perfected it. He had raw talent and drive. The creativity that was exuded in his shows, each having a topic or theme - being emotional and uniquely expressive - was nothing short of amazing. For me his work was beautifully dark, sad and sometimes humorous.”
Sherry dedicates this body of work to him and his art.
